Project
Prior to our intervention, the outbuilding consisted of a garage, a barn, shelters and a functional dwelling. Thanks to these intrinsic spatial quantities, we were able to create 4 independent dwellings.
The main difficulties encountered during the construction site concerned the structure and the gable facade. This facade, which had no apparent issues, was actually built as a half-timbered facade and the overlay of materials no longer offered any guarantee of stability. In agreement with the Office of Heritage and Sites, we were able to rebuild this part of the facade.
In terms of heritage, we were able to reconstruct the horizontal wooden cladding on the lake side of the gable by means of slanted blades that let through natural light.
The interior redesign of the premises was completed in a contemporary style. The passageway (former barn bridge) under the building has been preserved and the cobbled floor restored. The same is true for the old horse stables, where the mangers have been kept in place.
